Eero Aarnio

Eero Aarnio was born in 1932 and studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki from 1954 to 1957. In 1962, he created his own interior and industrial designer firm. He was a true believer in using plastic and fiberglass in his designs as it allowed the designer the freedom to create any shape and use any color they wanted. With that sort of mentality, he went onto create his first award winning design concept, the Bubble or Globe chair in 1965 and later on the Eyeball Chair.
